I just hugged my big-little brother goodbye.
We had quite the weekend together! First, we tested out our new standup paddleboard. Then, we had a serious food party that ended with this:
Not a bad start to the weekend, right?
On Sunday, John showed Matt how awesome the biking is here, literally right behind our house. Matt has worked in the bike industry for many years, so John knew he’d appreciate Park City’s trail system.
The boys had a blast, and came home tired and hungry. So we headed to our favorite little hole-in-the-wall spot for a good diner breakfast: No Worries Cafe. It’s in a random location, sort of attached to a Sinclair gas station. But they keep the coffee flowing and get the Eggs Bennie right. Plus, how cute is their menu slogan?
We intended to hit the shooting range after breakfast. My brother’s a GOOD shot and I’m pretty sure that John was excited to have another dude around to be manly with. But the range was packed, so we took the long way home over Big Mountain Pass.
The view from the top never gets old. And I got a smooch. Bonus!
Once we got home, I took a time-out with my book while the boys watched the British Open- perhaps to sharpen up their golf game for their tee time that evening. We made plans to meet for dinner after 9 holes of golf. I took advantage of the time to get some laundry done and get my Honeymoon Hundred out of the way. (I did 150 sit-ups though…to make up for the s’mores ice cream. Ouch.)
It may not have been my brother’s best game, according to the hilarious texts I received throughout the afternoon. But they had fun, and it was a gorgeous afternoon. I met them at the golf club bar for dinner, drinks, and a recap of their game. No golf balls broke any windows OR hit any humans. Success!
We headed home to collapse on the couch and do one of my favorite things when Matt is in town: watch ridiculous comedy shows on TV. A lap full of s’moresy goodness and red wine capped off a pretty packed weekend of fun.
Have I mentioned how lucky I am to have such a fun family? I was reminded this weekend.
And now, off to do 150 sit-ups. OUCH.
Cholula licking John … what a good photo! And yum does that s’more bowl of ice cream look fabulous right about now.
I have a similar photo of a lick like that from the first day we brought tiny Cholula home!!
