This morning, I put on a flowy dress and sandals. With the windows down, I drove past an older gentleman wandering around his yard in his robe, checking on his tomato plants. Next door, a young family was piling into their over-packed truck, which was towing a pop-up trailer. Fat squirrels and squeaky chipmunks played chicken with my car, and I met two girlfriends for coffee in the sunshine. Tonight, we’re grilling homemade pizzas and eating on the patio. The windows will stay open all night. These are the days I wait for all year– long and warm, full of sun and color and joy. After a busy couple of traveling weeks, I’m content to be home with my family, enjoying summertime’s perfection.
