I had a dose of the single gal life this weekend, while John was away for work. When he’s out of town, I simultaneously relish the time to myself and miss John tremendously. I realize that I talk to Cholula a lot. And my plants. And myself. This weekend included a little pampering, a lot of Cholula-spoiling, time spent outside in the stellar weather, necessary chores, some shopping, a girls’ night out, and cooking for one.
It was a beautiful weekend to myself, to fill with whatever struck my fancy. I didn’t do anything I wouldn’t do when John is home, but it all feels a little different without him near. Cholula squiggled and squealed when we picked John up at the airport late last night. Her contented, deep sigh as the three of us snuzzled into bed last night reminds me that we are a family. Time alone is necessary and healthy, and always makes me appreciate the life we have together.

One year ago: Spring Veggie Penne with Lemon Cream Sauce
I loved “Beautiful Ruins” and I hope you do too! Alone time is great for recharging and getting one-on-one time with beloved pooches. But you’re right, it’s always nice to be reunited with loved ones. Have a great week, Amber!
I do love it so far! I hope your week is good, too, Jessica!
I do the same thing, a little pampering, time with the pooches, miss the guy and then squeal when he gets home!
How is Cholula after her little incident with the barbed wire?
She just finished her antibiotics and seems to be fine… fingers crossed!
That’s like a LOT of clothes in your closet! 🙂
TOO MANY. I cleared out a lot for donation this weekend!
I’m the same way, Amber! I usually binge-watch a show at night that I know my bf isn’t into, like “Parenthood.” Reading is always good too!
I haven’t watched that show yet…
