Oh, and a BFF!
On Thursday, Sarah, Cordell and baby Macy came to visit. This was a ONE NIGHT ONLY! situation- they were passing through on the way to a wedding for the weekend- so we had to make it count. And we did!
I had the honor of spending Days 2-5 of Macy’s life with her. But that was 9 weeks ago! Let’s do a size comparison, shall we? (You know I love these.)
Three days old:
Nine weeks old:
Looks like someone is a good eater. (Side: I wish this photo was a scratch-n-sniff. BABY: is there anything more delicious?)
We enjoyed the June sunshine, windows open, grill warming up, reggae music wafting through the air. I tackled a very summery cocktail recipe that sounded perfect for the afternoon: Honey-Ginger Sparkling Lemonade with Rosemary. Macy supervised my efforts.
It’s basically a lemonade made with a honey, ginger, and rosemary simple syrup, juice from (many) fresh lemons, and sparkling water.
It’s extremely refreshing and delicious, just like this. OR, you can add vodka or bourbon and make it a party. I wisely opted for bourbon.
John grilled up a batch of his signature spicy BBQ chicken and we enjoyed a fantastic meal at the grown-up table.
Dessert was homemade strawberry-rhubarb ice cream. Sarah and Cordell agreed that their housewarming gift had been put to good use.
The next day, we had time to head to lunch before they had to move on. But first, a quick photo shoot in The Wok.
As always, High West Distillery did not disappoint. The beverages were extra tasty, sitting in the Park City sunshine on the patio. John has declared their burger the best in the state.
After many hugs (and Macy nuzzles), we waved goodbye to our friends. Such a fun 24 hours!
A friend that makes you laugh is priceless.
Especially when she brings along a little nugget like this.
wow! you guys are always eating so well! and that delicious little baby! so lovely…..
We do cook a lot at home- we actually ‘fight’ over who gets to cook in the fancy new kitchen! But I talked him into taking me on a date tomorrow night. Yippee!
My friends made a sweet little baby, didn’t they?!
