This week, we’re feeling the Christmas crunch. On Friday, we’ll be leaving for a couple of weeks of travel and family and fun, but that means getting a head start on the holiday before we leave (not my norm!). It’s a good time to listen to my best friend and “take my moments” when they come…pausing to breathe and notice the details that make life good.
I love Christmas cactus.
Deep-fried turkeys are delectable!
Sweet Anna gave Stanley big slices of turkey from the buffet.
If you’ve got a holiday get-together coming up, make these crostini for it. YUM.
Wintery hikes (but we need more snow).
Cozy soup with spicy Italian sausage, kale, and white beans.
The chirping smoke alarm was the hardest to reach, of course.
Black coffee and a donut: how I know John loves me.
My family.
Thermals and slippers forever!
This big fella said hello after Cholula and I went on a hike near home.
Did you read my piece in Misadventures Magazine?
Christmas cards were mailed in record time this year.
My mom celebrated a birthday this week!
A year ago, we were making our pine tree look Christmas-y with twinkle lights.
Two years ago, John was excited about date night.
Three years ago, we were napping on the beach in Point Reyes, California.
Four years ago, the theme of the party was “Naughty or Nice?”
Five years ago (eek), my teensy little apartment was decorated for Christmas.
And today, I finally get to listen to this Bianchi family classic on vinyl, thanks to my little bro.
You know. Just the usual bliss.
One year ago: A very special trip to Cali.
