Writing a blog is interesting. I enjoy it immensely and have made wonderful connections with people all over. One day, I had 530 views (what?). Today, I have 20. I haven’t been able to figure out what makes people stop by 500 times vs. 20 times in a day. It makes me smile to get that occasional reminder that my words matter to more people than just myself or my family. (Hi, Mom.) Recently, I got three such reminders! (Do the math- three big smiles!)

The Usual Bliss got shout-outs from a few of my favorite bloggers. Shannon at Dirt N Kids included me on her list of favorite blogs, which is an honor since I feel the same about hers. Her comments and personality just make me happy. She lives in Texas; I live in Utah. She has four small kiddies; I have one spoiled dog. It seems like we wouldn’t have a lot in common on the surface, but we do. And she’s hilarious.

Loni at Loni Found Herself nominated me for a Very Inspiring Blogger award, which is just awesome. But I have to admit that her kind words of praise about me and this little ol’ blog got to me- in a good way. “Fun, hip, and creative”? Blush. Thank you so much, Loni!

Last, one of my regular stops when I’m in foodie nerd mode is Salt and Serenity. The recipes on this blog are always drool-inducing (Peruvian Garlic-Lime Chicken? Yes, please.). So I was overjoyed and humbled to be included on the list of food blogs nominated for the Addictive Blog award. Especially when it’s been awhile since I have spent any quality time in my kitchen.

I’m about to change that, though. I’ve got some risotto to make!

I will share the nomination love (and also some facts about me) per the blog award guidelines soon. I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you.

  1. Congratulations on your awards! And I totally agree with you on the blog visits. Sometimes I post something that I am sure will attract the world and it does not. Or then I post something I think isn’t that great and it gets lots of comments. Someday we’ll figure it out. Love those ears.

  2. Congrats! I feel the same way – I never know when a post will speak to a hundred or just a few. But, it is a great feeling to know that some people are getting it and getting you. Your story is encouraging. Keep up the good work! -Rene
