The rollercoaster continues.
Remember the ups and downs I wrote about yesterday? Well, I guess it’s just that kind of week!
Not-so-little Cholula had a date with the vet this morning. As adorable as she was when she was tiny, we don’t want multiple mini-Cholulas running around. An extra early wake-up call had all three of us on the grumpy side today- especially Ms. Lazy Bones.
John and I both felt bad, being uber-sweet to Cholula while secretly plotting to leave her in a strange place to have unpleasant things done to her during the day. She totally sensed our feelings and seemed anxious all morning. Look!
As a side note, she only weighs 47.4 pounds. I was way off. Probably because anything over 20 pounds feels like ONE TON on a 7-hour road trip in your LAP. Moving on…
We gave her kisses and left, opting not to stop for breakfast in Salt Lake and head back up to Park City. Not two minutes after we walked in the door, the vet called. Cholula’s doctor was ill and would have to reschedule. Now, I know these things happen and are unavoidable. But our vet’s office is 35 minutes away. I headed back down the canyon and after two hours puppy-shuttling in the car, my day was off to a rough start. (Cholula, however, was happy to be riding shotgun toward home and NOT being poked and prodded by strangers with the office’s cat peering down at her from the top of the cabinets.)
I went about my to-do list for the day and managed to get my Honeymoon Hundred in before the early morning started to wear on me. Maybe I need a nap.
And then the rollercoaster headed back UP! My new friend Emily at Adventures of a Dog Mom nominated me for another blog award!
I mentioned another recent award nomination yesterday. A big thank you to the ladies from Painted by the Sun and Adventures of a Dog Mom for taking the time to recognizing the usual bliss!
The rules for these awards are similar.
- Showcase the award.
- Thank the person who nominated you.
- Share things about yourself.
- Share the blog LOVE.
I’ve shared all sorts of randomness about myself in past posts (here and here and here). It’s hard to come up with interesting things to ask myself, so I put my fate in the hands of Google. A search of “10 random questions” actually gave me 50. I’ll compromise with the first 20. (Blame Google if these are lame. Hint: They are.)
Where were you three hours ago? On my physioball trying to read Bon Appetit and count to 100 at the same time.
Who are you in love with?
Have you ever eaten a crayon? No, but if I did, it would be Atomic Tangerine or Mango Tango. They sound yummy.
Is there anything pink within 10 feet of you? I’ve never liked the color PINK until recently when the meaning changed a bit for me. Above my desk, I did spy this magnet.
When was the last time you went to the mall? I went with my BFF and her daughter on a visit to California. I may or may not have had more fun than the toddler.
Are you wearing socks right now? Just my flip flop tan!
Do you have a car worth over $2,000? Yes. I finally drive a safe vehicle. But I miss this:
When was the last time you drove out of town? This morning, to take my dog to the vet. Otherwise, MONTANA with Betty!
Have you been to the movies in the last 5 days? No. I am months overdue for a movie night OUT!
Are you hot? Nope- it’s a lovely 84 degrees and breezing in Park City. SLC is the hot spot at 101.
What was the last thing you had to drink? Black coffee. All day long.
What are you wearing right now? A tee-shirt that says Peace & Love, man.
Do you wash your car or let the car wash do it? Drive-through car washes are brilliant!
Last food you ate? Leftover veggie pasta from last night’s delish din-din.
Where were you last week at this time? I was in the kitchen making these for our party!
Have you bought any clothing items this week? Pass. Next question.
When is the last time you ran? Probably yesterday. And definitely after the dog.
What’s the last sporting event you watched? Le Tour! Viva Le Tour!
What is your favorite animal? All of the BABY ones!
Your dream vacation? I’ve gotten to go on some pretty dreamy vacations in the last handful of years. With a honeymoon to plan, the dreaming quotient is increased! We are leaning toward the British Virgin Islands… purr.
And now for a little bit of BLOG LOVE. I have listed many of my favorite blogs when I received other awards. Check them out! I have a couple of new blogs on my list of happy reads lately, and I hereby pass on the BLOG AWARD NOMINATION (choose which award you’d prefer!) to:
Shannon at Dirt N Kids
Alisa at No I Will Not Carry That Rock
Stacey at A Goode House
And my last UP for the day? It’s date night, you guys. Stay tuned for that!
But first, that nap…
aw, wow, thanks. I thoroughly love your blog too and envy the thoughtful time you have to put such great stuff out every day. I have time envy! And I must say, a little bit of camper throw-pillow envy. 😉
My time won’t always be so open but hopefully I’ll still be able to share fun stuff… !
I hope Cholula is all ship-shape tomorrow! No fun getting snipped. Thanks for the blog love. Back atcha, woman. I’m hooked. 🙂
No snipping for her yet- we had to bring her back home until her doc felt better. Reschedule the snipping! Poor beast…
You know, I missed that sentence. BTW, I just love that photo of you on the carousel and no fair about the 84 degrees.
I talked my niece into riding it, I think, for myself. Hmmm.
#1) Cholula is such a gorgeous dog! And I love her name, too!
#2) I drove a ’72 VW Beetle for a few years in college. It’s been replaced by a nice, reliable Corolla, but I still miss it. 🙂
Mine was a ’71 Beetle and I drove it for a decade. Once a VW lover, always a VW lover!
Cholula is a little nugget. Even though she’s not little anymore!
Rumor has it I was conceived in the backseat of a Beetle (and then almost born in the same one later). Now my dad makes a living working on VWs. So I guess it’s kind of in my blood to like Volkswagens. 🙂
I love that story!!
Well, girls, I hate crash your bug-y party, but my first car with a ’73 Super Beetle (powder blue) that I completely rebuilt. Loved that piece o’sh*t. Many great memories. HA!! How do ya like that?!
Powder blue for mine, too! LOVE. Kindred spirits!
🙂
Pretty awesome, Shannon!
I am planning to get a Beetle …when I learn how to drive. 🙂
Please don’t get mad at me, but I am happy Cholula got off easy today. I have been reading and watching and watching some more lovealab.wordpress.com….my new obsession. They have a labrador retriever litter and the little ones are beyond adorable. Are you sure you don’t want some little Cholulas? Just take a look at these ladies and gentle-puppies: http://lovealab.wordpress.com/2012/07/10/day-16/
OH NO. We looked at the puppies and want to steal them all! Maybe I’ll be the DOG version of the crazy cat lady…
OH NO! I called the crazy dog lady title a while ago… but, we can be crazy dog ladies together, if you want.
I am campaigning my husband to come back with Wheaty or Puffin (or both…) when we go to Colorado.
I can’t wait to hear if that happens… Love the campaign!
I love that you answered your questions with pictures but arrrrgh….you had to go showing off your ice cream sammies again – I just finally got that craving under control!
It was the photo of ice cream sammies- or cocktails. And that would be too tempting for me during my mini-ban on booze! Grr!
My first car was a 1963 VW Bug!
I use to have a 1963 VW Bug!
I would LOVE to have another one someday. Too fun!
Oh, thanks for the Blog Love! So sweet of you to include me.
I always enjoy your posts… and seem to always walk away extremely hungry. Hummm.
HA HA! Great answers to all the questions.
Love that picture of you on the merry-go-round!
I do post a lot about food! I love it! He he!
I love it, too! You motivated me to cook something… so for that I thank you!!! I wish I had more time for it. You make it look so fun. Keep cookin’!
I will! I have to enjoy having the time to do it while I can!
