It’s BLISS BITS Wednesday!
Oh, hello. Does anyone else feel like Christmas is coming at us at warp speed? My mom likes to say, “You sure do like to be busy.” I guess there’s some truth to that- I’ve always performed better under pressure. Give me a to-do list and watch me go! In the most hectic and stressful times, it feels like there’s no time to stop and notice the special little moments- but that’s when it’s most important to do so. Here are the bits of joy in the midst of my chaos this week.
Apparently, a beautiful side effect of extremely cold weather is a “sun dog.”
I’m not kidding about the extreme cold. Brrr!
Our gutter chain became a gorgeous ice crystal!
Mama must love you a LOT to be out in those temps!
Cholula let Frosty know what she thinks of the cold snap.
Attention hog.
The easiest roasted red pepper pasta was quite delicious!
Nog season is upon us!
Five snowplows means a big storm is coming.
My “why am I outside?” face.
Our big party is this weekend! I’ve been prepping all week.
Nothing wrong with a jalapeño-bacon combo.
John employs his patented “hoe hook” move to decorate our tree.
Curious.
Just a quick cup.
Dear Santa…
This wooden manger scene was John’s mother’s.
Winter skies.
So many meatballs!
We hunted down our tree!
Eleven feet didn’t seem huge until we tried to get it off the truck. And up the stairs.
I made rum balls! I’ll tell you everything this week.
My new favorite pulled pork recipe, coming soon!
Paul Newman is very handsome.
One of my very favorites. Ooo-eee-ooo!
Two hours here gave me a LOT of time to make lists.
An awesome rainbow tree in our ‘hood!
My kitchen helper while I made black bean chili!
One year ago, John thought he was being sneaky during our photo shoot.
He was also on the right track with my Christmas gift list.
Two years ago, this little nugget helped us find our trees.
And this morning, I was greeted by another sun dog.
You know. Just the usual bliss.

That pasta looks really good! And, it sounds like the perfect warm meal for all that cold weather.
It was so easy!
I’m so impressed that you venture out during such cold! It’s dropped to the 30s at night here for the last week and it’s just cold enough to enjoy but not make mean faces when the wind blows. Negative 18 is torture! You’re tough!
I didn’t last long!
Too many photos I love to comment on them on. Love the naughty bathroom shot and the sun dogs, yes, I noticed the VW bus (for me?) and rum balls sound scrumptious. This was a week?? That would be like a YEAR compilation for me. Life’s pretty awesome here, but not too much that is photo worthy; perhaps I should be looking for those bliss opportunities.
Y’all enjoy December. Beautiful up there with the snow. Glad you share the beauty with us here. Hugs.
Sometimes you definitely have to LOOK for the bliss! I’m so glad you’re back in action, just in time for the holidays.
