My kitchen was a mini-battlefield last night.
We stayed in for the evening and made a little culinary magic. Using the homemade crust left over from this adventure, we baked a couple of scrumptious pizzas. (My faithful furry kitchen assistant was on floor patrol.) Would the veggie or meat pizza be better? Well, we’d have to try them both.
We also decided to have a ‘pizza wine’ taste test. Two big reds that pair well with pizza went into battle to be named the BEST. Making this decision would clearly require multiple sips.
After dinner, we dove into something called a “wine aroma kit.” You basically smell the scents in tiny numbered bottles, one at a time. Then you take a sip and see how it changes the wine’s aroma and flavor afterward. The spectrum ranged from strawberry and black currant to licorice and leather. It was a very cool experience.
After our yummy meal and liquid dessert, we adjourned and laughed too hard at some comedy shows. My brother left this morning, which is a bummer, but we had a great visit. I just like when he’s around. Cholula also seems to approve.
Oh, and the food and wine battles from earlier? Well, with a couple of slices of delectable pizza on our plates and full glasses of good wine, no one really cared anymore.
Everybody wins!Â
You and your brother look like twins….exactly the same smile!
We are alike in many ways! He’s a great brother!
ok, I should really not have read this when I was starving hungry! lol!
I actually had to stop while I was writing it and go have a piece of leftover pizza!
pizza and red wine – my favourite combo! looked delicious, and how interesting the wine aroma kit sounds I’m checking this out thanks!
The kit made me want to learn more about the variations in individual wines. Which means drinking more wine, I guess… Win-win again! haha!
That kit is so cool!! I’m dying to try it!
It was really interesting and totally changed the wine each time!
