Yesterday was a relatively uneventful Saturday- the perfect day to notice the little things that make life fabulous.
On a gray, rainy morning, I slept late and savored every minute. (Side: Allowing the teeny tiny puppy on the bed 5 months ago may have been a mistake.)
I woke up to a clean kitchen (it wasn’t that way when I went to bed!). Two thumbs up so far!
First thing on the agenda- coffee and a stack of magazines and catalogs, my favorite weekend indulgence.
This was my date for the first half of the day.
I ran some errands, feeling productive and getting ready for my best friend’s visit later this week.
That included this (talk about bliss):
Later, I put on my slippers, familiar friends of mine these days, and enjoyed a glass of wine by the fire. I felt so grateful to be cozy and warm in my home with my little family.
As if that wasn’t enough, Cholula and I played with new puppy toys while my handsome live-in chef created a delectable meal of seared scallops in a white wine, shallot and tarragon sauce over israeli cous cous.
It was a bit of a special occasion. Our dining room chairs had finally arrived, and John wanted to cook something scrumptious for our first meal at the table.
Candlelight, Cannonball Adderley, and a delicious Spanish red wine blend called Acustic were the finishing touches on our inaugural dinner.
Chef John nailed it. Better than any restaurant!
Later, we sampled the ice cream stock-piled in the freezer and giggled our way through comedies on the DVR.
Home, sweet home!
